April the first – today is April Fool’s Day when people are allowed to play pranks on others in order to make the victims of pranks appear foolish. I have to say that I do not particularly like the day since it makes me feel as if everything I or others do become somewhat invalidated. I understand this sort of light-hearted day had its social function of alleviating the pent-up anger/frustration of people who were not allowed to express it ordinarily. But, these days, when almost every day (for some people) appears to be April Fool’s Day, particularly on media and internet, I wonder if such a day contributes to society in any way.
